Lowrance Elite-9 Ti Review

Lowrance Elite-9 Ti | Review

Highlights:

The Lowrance Elite-9 Ti – matches a 9″ SolarMax display and easy-to-use touchscreen controls with premium sonar features and powerful performance, at a very affordable price. The resolution runs 800 x 480, is pretty bright, and shows good viewability from all angles.

It has Excellent Charts and mapping – which includes a built-in worldwide base map plus C-MAP charting covering 11,000 lakes and U.S coastal areas. It also supports additional third-party chart options like premium C-MAP and Navionics.

It supports WiFi and BlueTooth –  and supports optional control of Power-Pole® Shallow Water anchors, remote control, SonicHub2 marine audio, Network Analyzer, and Service Assistant integrated service tools.

Supports NMEA2000 & NMEA0183 – for data sharing between NMEA2000 compatible devices and NMEA0183 legacy devices. The Elite Ti is not networkable for sharing sonar. You would have to move up to the Elite Ti2 which has sonar sharing via WiFi.

A solid Built-In Sonar that includes –  high-performance 500-watt CHIRP Sonar, DownScan, and SideScan all within one TotalScan transducer.

Lowrance also added an excellent new feature called FishReveal Smart Target View. FishReveal makes fish easy to see by combining Downscan imaging and Traditional sonar on one easy-to-use screen for excellent target separation between fish and structure.

My Initial Thoughts

The Lowrance Elite-9 Ti is an impressive little fish finder and chart plotter with a wide range of features and capabilities that would appeal to both novice and experienced anglers.

The 9-inch touchscreen display is clear and easy to use, and the preloaded C-MAP charts provide pretty detailed mapping for both freshwater and saltwater fishing, however I’m not a big fan of Navionics for my area of Florida, so be sure to make sure the mapping will work for you.

The unit also includes several advanced features, such as CHIRP sonar, StructureScan, Side and Down imaging which is very good, and wireless connectivity, making it very versatile onboard.

Pros:  Screen size and Resolution, Fishfinder capabilities, and ease of use.

Cons: Mapping

A Elite-9 Ti | What types of SONAR

Lowrance Elite-9 Ti Downscan | CHIRP | SideScan

The Elite Ti Sonar StructureScan HD –  is a pretty powerful fishfinder with 3 sonar channels. The built-in Broadband Sounder includes a CHIRP traditional sonar, DownScan imaging, and SideScan imaging.

Transducer options include 4 choices the TotalScan which is the all-in-one transducer for Med/High CHIRP and StructureScan HD with SideScan and DownScan Imaging within a single transducer installation.

Additional sonar features include Sonar Trackback and FishReveal Smart Target View.

Broadband CHIRP Sonar

Traditional CHIRP Sonar – provides a view of the water column and bottom for looking for fish and structures. Broadband can use CHIRP (Low/Mid/High) frequencies in 50/83/200kHz with a power output of 500 watts. The maximum working depth is about 1000 Feet using (mid/high CHIRP).

Here is an example of the traditional sonar view.

* Optional Sonar features that you turn on/off individually.

StructureScan Sonar

StructureScan HD uses high frequencies in the 455/800kHz range to provide a high-resolution, picture-like image of the water column and the bottom.

SideScan gives you a wide coverage in high detail to about 300 feet to each side,  while DownScan provides detailed images of structure and fish to about 300 feet directly below.

FishReveal Smart View

FishReveal – makes fish easier to see. By combining CHIRP sonar fish arches with the high-resolution DownScan Imaging you get a view to distinguish fish easier.

Lowrance Elite-9 Ti - With FishReveal

Elite Ti | With FishReveal

FishReveal overlays CHIRP sonar and DownScan Imaging on one screen eliminating the need to have a two-panel split-screen layout.

Elite-9 Ti | TotalScan Transducer

The 4 Transducer options include the TotalScan all-in-one, Med-High Skimmer, the LSS-HD StructureScan HD, and the HDI Transducer.

Here are the choices:

1. Med/High TotalScan is the all-in-one transducer for Med/High CHIRP and StructureScan HD with SideScan and DownScan Imaging. This one is the most popular solution.

2. Med-High Skimmer transducer for Med-High CHIRP Sonar only.

3. LSS-HD StructureScan HD transducer is for SideScan and DownScan Imaging only.

4. HDI Transducer combines Med/High CHIRP and DownScan Imaging only.
