Elite-9 ti2 or ECHOMAP Plus 93sv

About Review Marine - Rodney on Deck of the HUNA Flying the Drone

Key Differences

Both are excellent fishfinder/chart plotters, but the ECHOMAP Plus 93sv has just a couple of extra features that might make it a better option.

The Garmin comes loaded standard with a pretty solid charting package with LakeVü g3 + Navionics | 17,000 Lakes. It also has a bit more waypoint storage and offers support for an external GPS antenna.

The biggest difference for the 93sv might be in the additional support for Realtime Garmin Panoptix Sonar.

The Elite-9 TI2 on the other hand comes with a slightly faster GPS and storage for up to 100 tracks. And, though I don’t think the preloaded charts are quite as robust, it does come with C-MAP US Inland mapping with 1-foot contours on 4,000 lakes, plus many more mapping options, including C-MAP, Navionics, and a bunch more.

Also, though the screens are basically the same size, the physical size of the Elite-9 TI2 is almost a full inch narrower than the Plus. This might matter if console space is limited.

Neither one will do radar. You will have to move up to the Garmin GPSMAP or Lowrance HDS series for radar support.

Which one do I choose?

Should I upgrade to an Elite-9 ti2 or ECHOMAP Plus 93sv?

Both are excellent choices.

► ECHOMAP Plus 93sv– I like the Garmin charts a little bit more and the option for Panoptix is a big plus. I also think it can be found just a little less expensive than the Elite-9 TI2.

► Elite-9 TI2 – It’s a solid unit. If it meets your requirements and if you have had Lowrance or have experience with them, then sticking with what you know is often the best choice.

Also, keep in mind troling motor support. Lowrance is Motorguide and Garmin is Force.

Pro Tip: Although these models aren’t current, they are always available on the secondary market, new and used, and both are awesome units.
